Every year Mihingo Conservation and Community Development Foundation (MCCDF) organises the Mihingo Conservation Run to raise funds and create awareness of the activities MCCDF is involved in.
MCCDF has focused on a compensation programme for livestock killed by Park predators, channelled donations of equipment to two local primary schools, started a sponsorship scheme for students to secondary school and begun identifying leopards of the area. Since we started the project we have compensated farmers for hundreds of kills, have seen many leopard cubs grow up and the hyenas on our side of the park, increased in number from the occasional 2 to 4 hyenas to a regular 20 at the moment.
