Mihingo has its own vegetable and herb garden which is 100% organic. All the salads that guests eat are from the garden and as fresh as can be.
We have set up an aqua-ponics system with a solar pump circling the water around the fish tanks, gravel beds and trenches. Floating beds of mint and lettuce cover the trenches while mint also grows in the gravel beds. Tilapias are bred in the tanks, and one day we hope to supply the lodge with our very own fish.
In charge of the garden is Mugisha who has quite the greenest thumb. He keeps the veggetables growing, the monkeys out and the caterpillars from munching it all.
